What to Expect on a Sunday

When and where does the church meet?

The church meets every Sunday at 10.30am and 6.30pm. It helps to get there at least 5 minutes early to get a seat in time for the service to start. The church is on Elizabeth Street (PR1 2RX) and parking is available on Sundays on the roads surrounding the church building, and in the Walker Street car park just 50 yards from the church building. Passes are available for free parking in this car park, but these will need to be acquired from a steward in the church first.

What can I expect when I visit the church?

Each service runs for about an hour and 15 minutes. The service will be approximately 15 minutes longer on the fourth Sunday morning of each month, and the second Sunday evening of each month due to sharing the Lord’s Supper together during the service. No prior knowledge is assumed, and you won’t be required to say or pray anything that you do not believe. At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible, and there is also a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs, prayers and news.

There is a Welcome Table with information in the church entrance which is all free to pick up. There will also be people to welcome you near the doors and they will also be happy to answer any questions you might have or will be able to point you in the direction of someone who can.

What’s available for children at church?

We have groups for children at church for ages 2 ½ -14 that take place during our 10.30am service. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service. The speaker will make it clear where and when children need to go to their groups. We also provide a supervised crèche, for babies and for toddlers between 0 – 2 ½ years.

The groups will last for about 45 minutes and the children can expect to have fun playing games, and learning about God in a relevant way.

At our 6.30pm service there are no organised groups for children.

Is there a dress code?

No! Just wear whatever you normally wear – others will be wearing anything from shirt and jacket to jeans and a t-shirt.

Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?

Not at all! We will be welcoming, and you will not be forced to do anything you are not comfortable doing. We want you to feel at home and enjoy the service. Do join us for tea or coffee after the service to get to know some people from the church.

I have more questions; how can I get in touch and ask them?

You can use the email forms to particular staff members or feel free to call the church office. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a message and someone will get back to you during the week (01772  319156).  Alternatively, you can email the church office.
