James 1:23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
One thing about going into print is that people remember what you wrote. They even quote it back at you. This is a problem when, like me, you are very good at advising other people and very bad at advising yourself.
So I was going for a jog with Adam (I no longer call it a run because the pace has slowed as the belly has expanded!). We were both taking our dogs. As we set out round the corner of our house Adam stopped to put Hamish on the lead and said, “I read your blog. The one about the man smoking weed.” (March 26th 2014)
Now you’d think at this stage I’d be encouraged. The problem was that the point of that post had been how I was a hypocrite because I was quite happy to ignore by-laws when it came to having my dog on a lead, whilst condemning weed smokers and anyone else who happened to break the law in a way I don’t!
Why was this a problem? Jasper (the dog) wasn’t on a lead. I didn’t even have the lead with me. I had no intention of putting him on the lead. So, like a hound that has been told to go to bed, my head dropped, my ears went floppy and I sheepishly went back inside to get the lead.
What are you when you are proved a hypocrite about a blog you wrote about hypocrisy? A hyper-hypocrite?
